-
- We require our (meaning the people who translate our application, not "Apple's
- Policy") translators to use both ViewEdit and ResEdit. If you've created text
- that is in the 'view' resource, but not accessible from ViewEdit, I would
- suggest NOT keeping that text in the 'view' resource. I would create the
- fields empty, and then load the text from a 'STR#' resource, which they could
- edit using ResEdit.
-
- I admit the above solution won't work in all cases. The one where it fails
- would be when the translated string (I've heard German is known for this) is
- so much longer than the English text that the text box needs to be expanded.
- Since ViewEdit can't access the text, I assume that it also can't access the
- size of the box that it fits in, so your translators couldn't change this.
-
- The above solution will mean extra coding in your IApplication() method (and
- maybe other places) to load in the text, but it does give you a way of allowing
- your translators to get access to all of the text.
